Privacy and how we use your information
This explains, in plain language, what JRECC collects when you apply for a job, why, and what happens next. It is a summary for applicants and is not legal advice.
What we collect
Your name, email address and phone number; your education, work experience, skills and certifications; your answers to the role questions; any cover letter text; and the documents you upload (for example your CV). We only ask for what we need to assess you for this role. We do not ask for your photo, date of birth, religion, ethnicity, health, family or marital status.
National Identification Number (NIN). Some roles, such as field enumerators, ask for your NIN. We use it only to verify your identity if you are shortlisted or hired. It is not used to assess or rank your application, and it is never sent to the AI tool. Only authorised JRECC hiring staff can see it, and it is deleted with the rest of your application after the retention period below.
Why we collect it
To assess your suitability for the role, to verify your identity where a role requires it, to contact you about your application, and to keep a record of how decisions were made.
How your documents are used
Documents are stored privately. Only authorised JRECC hiring staff can open them, through short-lived secure links. They are never published or shared publicly.
AI-assisted evaluation
If you agree when you apply, an AI tool helps the hiring team compare applications against the job’s published criteria. It reads your work experience, skills, qualifications, answers and the text of your CV and cover letter. Before the AI sees them, we remove your name, contact details, links, schools, dates and any sentences that mention protected characteristics. The AI does not use your name, photo, age, gender, religion, ethnicity, disability, marital status, address or similar characteristics.
The AI never decides. Its output is decision support that shows its evidence. Authorised people at JRECC review it and make every hiring decision. If you do not agree to AI-assisted evaluation, your application is still considered and is reviewed manually.
How long we keep it
Application information is kept for up to 12 months, after which it is deleted, unless a longer period is required by law or you are hired.
Your rights and contacting us
